Stars Extend Agreement With Idaho Steelheads
FRISCO (AP) - The Dallas Stars and Texas Stars have extended their affiliation with the Idaho Steelheads through the 2011-2012 season.
Texas Stars General Manager Scott White said Wednesday that the ECHL's Steelheads are "an important development tool for the Dallas Stars."
Texas is a third-year American Hockey League organization based in Austin.
The agreement marks the third season the three teams have worked together. Idaho and Dallas, however, go back farther, having been affiliated in all but one of Idaho's ECHL seasons.
The Steelheads joined the ECHL for the 2003-04 season. They won the Patrick J. Kelly Cup as the development affiliate of the Dallas Stars in 2004 and 2007.
The Steelhead play at the 5,006-seat Qwest Arena in downtown Boise which hosted more than 156,000 fans last season.
