FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - A police standoff at a Valero gas station in Fort Worth came to an end Friday morning with no suspect found. The incident started at about 4:30 a.m. when authorities were called about a robbery at the gas station, located along Allen Avenue near Interstate-35W.
According to police, a customer walked into the gas station and found the store's clerk tied up on the floor. That witness called 911 and officers rushed to the scene. It was not clear at that time if the robbery suspect was still inside of the building or not, so a SWAT team was brought out to assist the responding officers.
"They tied up the clerk and that person was held against their will," said Tamara Valle with the Fort Worth Police Department.
The SWAT team went inside of the gas station and escorted the clerk to safety.
Police did not locate the suspect inside of the building, and do not know when that individual may have left the scene. Officials have not yet released a description of the suspect. Investigators are still working on the case.
Police surrounded the gas station and blocked off nearby roads during the standoff. Commuters are advised to stay away from this area until the scene has been cleared. Click here to seek alternate routes.
