Special Needs Man Found Dead In Hot SUV
ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) - A young man, believed to have the mental capacity of a child, was found dead Thursday afternoon in the backseat of a hot SUV parked in the driveway of an Arlington neighborhood.
Arlington Police are investigating why the man, in his late 20s or early 30s, was left inside the car. Police say they were called to the home in the 6500 block of El Dorado Drive at about 3:15 Thursday, where they found him deceased inside the car. The man lived at the home, which provided services for those with special needs. The home is owned by Fundamental Living. His name is not being released until his family is notified.
Investigators have determined on Thursday morning at about 9 o'clock, a group of people were driven from the home to another location in the SUV. The victim was not dropped off at the location and left inside the SUV when it returned to the home. When a different employee returned to the car prepared to pick up the group home's residents, he discovered the victim was still in the car, according to police.
Police are interviewing witnesses and will await a cause of death from the medical examiner's office to determine whether anyone should face criminal charges. The home's remaining residents have been taken to another location, owned by the same company but staffed by different employees.
