Southwest Resolves Computer Issues, Travel Backlog Remains

DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - They've fixed the glitch, but a backlog of cancelled and delayed flights has Southwest airlines playing catch-up Thursday morning.
According to the company, the Southwest Airlines system began having intermittent problems with several systems after an outage Wednesday night, causing travel headaches all across the US.
According to the airline, nearly 700 flights were cancelled and several hundred more were delayed.
"Systems are gradually coming back online" a statement from Southwest said, "to enable a fully restored operation."
The Dallas based airline company released a statement:
"Flexible rebooking accommodation will be available to Customers once our systems are fully functional. Customers who are booked to travel Thursday, July 21, should check flight status information on Southwest.com and plan to arrive to the airport early, as long lines may occur."
On Thursday morning, Southwest announced they have canceled more than 221 flights and continue to manage the flight disruptions across the system.
Southwest tells customers to expect some cancellations and delays as they continue to position aircraft and crews.
