Southwest Looking For Slots At Washington National Airport
DALLAS (AP) - Southwest Airlines Co. is seeking slots at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport to offer nonstop service to Austin-Bergstrom International Airport.
Dallas-based Southwest on Monday filed an application with the U.S. Department of Transportation.
Southwest says it also wants to provide one-stop, same-plane service between Reagan National and San Diego International Airport via Austin.
The carrier says recent federal legislation has authorized new flights to cities beyond Reagan National's traditional 1,250 mile service perimeter.
Southwest expects a regulatory decision by May and would begin service this summer.
