DALLAS (105.3 THE FAN)- Center Tyson Chandler will not be suspended for Tuesday's Game 5 of his Mavs vs.Rockets series in Houston, despite what appeared to be a fist thrown at the back of Rockets center Dwight Howard, NBA sources tell me.
The fourth-quarter play, which occurred in Sunday's stay-alive Dallas win at the AAC, was called as a double-technical foul at the time after Chandler and Howard got entangled. Howard threw his arm down on Chandler and in retaliation, Chandler seemed to swing a clenched fist.
There is no evidence of Chandler's intent; it's possible the NBA will rule that he was simply fighting free of Howard's arm-lock, a continuation of the Houston center's physical play -- a style that earned the complaints of Dallas coach Rick Carlisle and a $25,000 fine as well.
But it ends at the fine for the coach, with no suspension for the player ... but more wrestling to come Tuesday.
