Son Describes Witnessing Crash That Killed His Parents

DENTON COUNTY (CBS 11 NEWS) - A young North Texas man not only lost his parents in a horrific motorcycle accident, but he saw the crash happen right before his eyes.
Bryce Byington is still in shock from what he witnessed at an intersection in The Colony.
"It ain't easy, that's for sure. I'm kind of like on autopilot," he said.
It was a nice evening and the Bryce and decided to hop on their motorcycles and head out to dinner. The 21-year-old was on riding behind his parents when their motorcycle was struck by a suspected drunk driver. Both 42-year-old Stephanie Byington and 42-year-old Jeremy Byington were killed.
"Me and my parents were talking about which way we were gonna go to the restaurant to get dinner. And then the light turned green and we took off," Bryce recalled. "Got to the middle of the intersection and that's when the car came up and t-boned them after running a red light."
Bryce said his parents were killed instantly right before his eyes.
"There was no helping them. I'm a military police officer so I already knew what I was looking at the second I saw it," he said.
Police sources say the driver who caused the crash ran a red light and had a blood alcohol level of 0.10 -- the legal limit is 0.08 or below.
"He took my mom and my dad away from me right in front of my eyes. I mean we all make mistakes, I'm not here to judge a single person. I never have, that's not who I am," Bryce said.
Bryce and his 20-year-old sister, Shaunna, say their parents had just celebrated their 22nd anniversary last weekend and died holding each other and doing what they loved.
"We lost a lot. We lost a lot," Shaunna said.
Bryce went on saying, "I tell you this, if they ever met you and they made you feel like they even somewhat kind of liked you, they treated you better than any of your friends have ever treated you in your entire life. They were always there to help someone. I can't tell you how many second parents they were to so many other people."
Police say the driver could be arrested on Thursday.
A GoFundMe account has been set up for Bryce and Shaunna to help with expenses.
