Soldier's Remains Arrive Back In North Texas
FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - A family in Burleson is prepared to receive the remains of a Marine and Army specialist on Wednesday who died in Afghanistan. There will be emotional tributes for William Moody during the upcoming Independence Day weekend. Loved ones, as well as the Patriot Guard, will be at Fort Worth's Meacham International Airport when Moody's remains arrive on Wednesday afternoon.
The Burleson man was in Afghanistan during what was to be his fourth and final deployment, but family members said that he was the kind of guy who was always willing to do more than what was expected. Two weeks ago, he was in Afghanistan when the Taliban attacked his base. Moody was killed.
Just last April, Moody had returned to Burleson to attend a funeral for his father-in-law. That was the last time that he got to see his wife and two stepchildren. The Army specialist will be laid to rest on Saturday.
Also on Saturday, the flags at the State Capitol in Austin will be flown at half-staff -- the first time for this to be done for a member of the military since House Bill 150 was passed. It is a tribute for military men and women from Texas who were killed in action.
