So Close To Title, Rangers Looking Forward

SURPRISE, AZ (AP) - The Texas Rangers used to go to spring training trying to fill out a starting rotation and hoping to get out of last place in the AL West.

When the Rangers report to Arizona this week, they will have Japan's top pitcher and four returners who won at least 13 games among at least seven potential starters. That despite losing their No. 1 starter in free agency.

They will also be taking the first step toward a quest to get to their third consecutive World Series. They insist there will be no hangover after being so agonizingly close to winning it all last season.

Michael Young, their longest-tenured player, says Texas is every bit a championship team and just wants to prove it.
