Smart Phone App For Fort Worth Graffiti
Graffiti is one of the oldest afflictions in urban areas and Fort Worth is using one of the newest technologies to fight it. There's now an app for that. The application permits smart phone users to tell City Hall about graffiti problems within a few moments. Fort Worth Code Compliance Director Brandon Bennett says the idea was born of economic necessity. When budget cuts forced his department to cut staff by 20 percent last year, they looked for ways to let residents help them keep up with code violations. One of the ideas they came up with is the smart-phone app that allows i-Phone or Android cell phone owners to simply go to the app store and find the free My Fort Worth application to report everything from gang signs and graffiti to trash piles and even stray dogs. Users simply type up a message and send in a picture. The city is working on developing a similar program for Blackberries.
