Skateboard Sale Leads To Dallas Shooting

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - A dispute in Dallas ended with one person being shot and a gunman on the loose. The incident happened late Tuesday night in the 5800 block of Highland Hills Drive, in the southeast Oak Cliff area, and centered around a skateboard sale gone wrong.
According to investigators, one person was trying to sell a Stealth skateboard to a buyer. The skateboards can cost around $40 up to a few hundreds dollars. But the buyer and the seller started to argue over the price. That disagreement led to the suspect shooting the victim in the leg.
Police said that the boxed 'skateboard' turned out to be a box of rocks anyway.
The victim was taken to a nearby hospital, but there has been no update as to their condition. Police have also not released any specific details about the suspect.
In an effort to make people feel more secure about these personal sales transactions, some cities offer safe zones where people can conduct their business. North Richland Hills, Bedford, Denton, Carrollton and Euless are among the cities with safe zones already in place, and Arlington is working to create one.
The Dallas Police Department invites people to use their lobby during regular business hours.
