Six Kids Burned In McKinney Gasoline Explosion
McKINNEY (CBSDFW.COM) - A group of young children playing with a campfire out behind a McKinney home have been injured after one of the kids poured gasoline on the fire.
The six children, between the ages of 11-4, were all burned by the explosion. One of the kids, believed to be a 5-year-old, has reportedly been burned on 30 percent of her body.
CBS 11's Susy Solis says an open fire pit was the center of the fire. Vaports from the gas can sitting next to the pit ignited, burning the kids.
A total of 4 of the children were critically burned and taken by air ambulances to Dallas' Parkland Hospital burn unit. A fifth child was also being transported by ambulance to Parkland. The sixth was taken to Medical Center of Plano.
The house is in the 800 block of Center street just south of Highway 380 east of Central Expressway in McKinney.
The McKinney Fire Department says there were adults inside the home at the time of the fire, but the children were outside unsupervised. The fire is still under investigation.
