Should There Really Be Joy In Arlington?

DALLAS (105.3 THE FAN) -- Josh Hamilton is not a happy man today. With one quote, Ron Washington just destroyed Josh's belief that DFW "isn't a baseball town."

Here's what Wash had to say Wednesday:

"You look at every other city that has a chance of being in the playoffs now, and there's joy. I don't see a whole lot of joy in Arlington. I'm not knocking anybody. I just don't see it. All they can talk about is how we collapsed. That's not right."

Actually Ron, it is. Welcome to expectations. Welcome to World Series or bust. Only a loser fan-base would celebrate collapses in back-to-back seasons. How exactly do you want fan-fans to be satisfied with another possible choke that has RJ Choppy labeling you the Buffalo Bills of baseball? You want to see joy? Look at Cleveland and Pittsburgh. There's a new feeling of success because they've stunk forever. The Rangers no longer qualify for that category.

The days of celebrating wildcard games are over. Being a first-place team in August no longer impresses. Look, I think Ron Washington is the best player manager in sports. Not baseball, SPORTS. He should absolutely keep his job and receive more offensive help from Jon Daniels this offseason. I've always respected and agreed with his brutal honesty and defense of his team, but he's wrong on this one.

There's no joy to be had right now in Arlington Ron. That wouldn't be a very "baseball town" thing to do.

The Braves-Brewers "brawl" infuriates me.

MLB pitchers are the biggest over-reacting crybabies in sports. Yes, Carlos Gomez acted like an ass around the bases...AFTER Freddie Freeman started it at 1B.

And how the hell did Brian McCann not get tossed from that game?

New School question: Why are the celebration rules in baseball SO different from any other sport? We have TD dances and stare-downs after dunks but a hitter can't pause for a SECOND after a HR?  And in many cases, I do mean a second. Heck, even pitchers deliver fist-pumps and stare-downs after big strikeouts (which I like).

Memo to pitchers: If you get taken deep, you got beat. Flat out, simple. Deal with it and strike him out next time instead of crying like a little bitch.
