BEAUMONT (CBSDFW.COM/AP) — Police in South Texas have arrested a 13-year-old boy accused of toting a shotgun, trying to rob a cabbie and then driving away in the taxi.

The suspect was being held Tuesday on juvenile charges of aggravated robbery and evading in a motor vehicle.

Beaumont police on Monday night received a call from a cabbie saying a male with a shotgun had stolen her taxi.

According to Officer Carol Riley, the cabbie had been summoned to an address, the boy got into the vehicle, pointed a shotgun at her and said it was a holdup.

The taxi driver ran away unharmed. Riley says the boy drove off in the cab, which was stopped a short time later and the youngster taken into custody.

Police also recovered the shotgun from the taxi.
