1 Man Dead & 2 Teenagers Injured In Shooting At Garland Home

GARLAND (CBSDFW.COM) - Authorities are trying to piece together what led to a deadly shooting in Garland on Monday morning. The incident happened at about 3:30 a.m. outside of a house in the 1600 block of Mosswood Court. Officers arrived at the scene to find two people injured.

Police explained that a 22-year-old man and a 15-year-old boy were both shot. They were taken to a hospital in Plano, but the older victim was pronounced dead. The teenager did not have any life threatening injuries, but he remains hospitalized at this time.

Before officers could even get to the scene, they received a tip that a red car was somehow involved in the shooting. An officer spotted a red car in the area, driving without headlights and traveling at a high rate of speed. When police stopped the vehicle, they found four teenagers inside.

One of the red car's passengers was a 13-year-old boy who had been shot. The teenager was taken to Baylor Medical Center at Garland, where he was treated and then transported to Children's Medical Center Dallas. He is still in the hospital and said to be in stable condition.

Investigators are still speaking with those who witnessed the shooting to understand who had guns, who fired shots, and what led to the violence. Officers think that everyone who was involved in this incident is either at the hospital or has been taken in for questioning.

Neighbors could not say much about the family who lives at the Garland home, but they were shocked to hear gunshots. "This area usually is a quiet part of town," said Alberto Irizarry with the Garland Police Department. "We don't get a lot of shootings or things like this. When we do get them, we take it very serious."
