DALLAS – Three people were shot in downtown Dallas Thursday afternoon, police said.

It happened before 12:30 p.m. in the 1800 block of Commerce Street, in the heart of downtown Dallas.

Three people were shot on the eighth floor of an apartment building, sources said, two adults and one juvenile. One of them is a DISD student, sources said.

Fears of a possible active shooter spread inside and outside the building which police quickly swarmed blocking off streets and restricting access to The Continental.

Witnesses said that at least one of the wounded walked through building bleeding and pleading for help but some were too scared and locked themselves inside their units.

"It wasn't like it what year in the movies, like an automatic weapon or anything. [It] was like pop pop pop pop pop," said Carollee Padilla, a tenant in the building. "I peaked my head out the door the man was walking towards me holding his gut in his hands saying, 'Help me, I've been shot.'"

That tenant said she was too afraid the shooter was nearby and closed her door.

All three victims were taken to the hospital for treatment, Dallas Police Public Information Officer Tramese Jones said. All are expected to survive; however, their relationship is unknown.

Jones said there is no information on a suspect at this time. Sources said there is no active search because the crime scene investigators are still trying to piece the incident together. Sources also said the shooting was the result of a dispute and not a random attack.

This is a developing story.
