Shark Experts Talks About Attack
DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Rodney Fox is credited with playing a role in 90% of the video and pictures ever captured of great white sharks. Fox also survived one of the worst shark attacks in history. On Thursday Fox spoke about the experience of being bitten by a great white shark.
"Every rib was broken in my chest here, the lung was punctured, there's nothing and they just stitched it all up," said Fox.
But despite his injuries Fox was not willing to give up studying great whites up close.
"I wanted to go back diving but I was afraid to, so I invented the first cages," said Fox.
After the attack, Fox began filming great whites underwater. In his 40 years of research he had produced more than 100 films and documentaries on sharks.
"The more we learn about them, the less we can fear them and more we can help people to stave off a shark attack," said Fox.
Fox advises people who are afraid of shark attacks to avoid ocean water if they are bleeding. Fox also suggests swimmers stay from wasters with seal colonies or lots of fish.
