DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - An iconic cult favorite burger joint is opening its first North Texas location. It was announced Thursday that Shake Shack is coming to Dallas. The popular restaurant will open at the corner of McKinney Avenue and Pearl Street in the uptown area.
This is the site of The Crescent mixed-use development, which is currently in the process of its first major renovation in three decades. More than $30 million is being spent to upgrade the area's offices, hotel, retail and entertainment facilities. The full project should be completed by mid-2016.
The new Shake Shack is expected to open in 2016, just as the renovation project is completed. "Shake Shack is a home run for The Crecscent," said John Zogg, the managing director of Crescent Real Estate Equities, "helping it to become a very energetic and vibrant spot."
Shake Shack started in 2001 as a New York City hot dog cart. It has since evolved into a critically acclaimed burger place with locations in cities such as Austin, Chicago, Atlanta, London and Dubai. The restaurant boasts high-quality food at value prices. It is best known for its all-natural burgers, crinkle-cut fries, hot dogs, frozen custard, beer and wine.
The restaurant even offers food for pets.
The new location in Dallas will have indoor and outdoor seating, and will resemble the original Madison Square Park location which opened in 2004 in New York.
This is the second new restaurant being added to The Crescent during its renovation project. Ascension coffee house and wine bar, which began in Dallas, is opening a second location here, also in 2016.
