DENTON (CBSDFW) - Several University of North Texas students were forced out of their dorm over the weekend after a fire sprinkler system was activated, causing some minor flooding.

According to UNT officials, 18 rooms in the brand new Rawlins Hall on the Denton campus needed vacuums and mops after officials say the sprinklers went off Saturday night.

One freshman student says she came back to her room to find all her books and homework under an inch of water.

Students will have their property replaced by the university if it was damaged. In the meantime the affected students have moved to other rooms.

Officials are working to find out why the sprinklers went off in the first place because there were no signs of a fire.
