Services Set For Slain Arlington Police Officer
ARLINGTON (AP) - Services have been set for an Arlington police officer killed last week while answering a domestic disturbance call.
A candlelight vigil and wake were scheduled Monday night at Mount Olive Baptist Church in Arlington for Officer Jillian Michelle Smith. Police say a memorial service will be held Tuesday at the church.
Smith was gunned down Dec. 28 at an Arlington apartment complex.
Police say Smith was shot by a man accused of assaulting his ex-girlfriend. Police say the gunman also fatally shot the woman he formerly dated, then killed himself.
Police say Smith died trying to protect the woman's 11-year-old daughter, who was not injured in the gunfire.
