Senior Slain In Southeast Dallas Home
DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - A 73-year-old man was found dead in his Southeast Dallas home this weekend. People who knew the senior, identified as Earnest Lewis, grew increasingly anxious when they couldn't get a hold of him earlier in the week.
"We knew something wasn't right," said Shelia Shaw, who thought that perhaps the elderly man was out of town for the holidays. Shaw was Lewis' caretaker.
But it was out of character for Lewis, described by neighbors as "defenseless, patient, kind and considerate," not to say good bye.
Police located Lewis in his two-bedroom residence in the 7500 block of Great Trinity Forest Boulevard, and now a homicide investigation is underway.
"It's sad what they did to him," said neighbor Shatisha Beachum.
Lewis was one of the friendliest people in the neighborhood, according to Beachum, who said he even gave her son a dollar every time he saw him.
"For someone to come in and do that, they need to catch them and put them in an electric chair," said Beachum. "That's just the way I feel about it."
