GARLAND (CBS11)  - Garland Police are looking for three men who attempted a smash-and-grab Tuesday morning at a gun store.

On the suspects' third attempt at ramming a stolen SUV into B&S Guns, the store's security video shows the suspects' SUV becoming lodged on top of a concrete security pillar on the front sidewalk.

With their stolen SUV stuck, investigators say the trio tried to steal a delivery man's truck nearby before running into a residential neighborhood.

"It's kind of hilarious to watch them get stuck and try and try again," said B&S Guns owner Paul Peddle.

Peddle said his father installed the concrete pillars in front of the store before he opened the family-owned business 30 years ago on Broadway in Garland.

"How he had the foresight to see that and envision that something like this could happen, I don't know," said Peddle. "But for us we'll do whatever it takes to keep these firearms safe. These firearms need to be in the right hands – not the wrong hands."

According to the ATF, last year 1,024 firearms in Texas were reported stolen from (or lost by) licensed dealers.

Last week, thieves stole nearly 50 guns in a smash-and-grab at an Arlington gun store.

Garland investigators said it's too early to know if there's any connection between the Arlington and Garland cases.
