Seastrunk & Fields Top Big 12 Preseason Players
IRVING (AP) - Baylor running back Lache Seastrunk and TCU defensive end Devonte Fields are the Big 12 preseason players of the year.
The preseason All-Big 12 teams were released Wednesday as selected by media members who cover the conference.
Seastrunk, the former Oregon transfer who will be a junior, averaged 139 yards rushing over the last six games in 2012 and was the conference's top offensive newcomer.
Fields was the Big 12 defensive player of the year last season as a freshman, when he had 10 sacks. TCU coach Gary Patterson said in May that Fields is suspended for the first two games this season for an unspecified violation of university and team policies.
West Virginia's Charles Sims, a transfer from Houston, is the preseason newcomer of the year.
