Search For Motive In Grapevine Christmas Day Murders Continues

GRAPEVINE (CBSDFW.COM) - New information has been discovered concerning the case of the Christmas Day massacre in Grapevine.

KRLD NewsRadio 1080 was the first to report investigators now have answers to a couple of major questions.

Police say 56-year old Aziz Yazdanpanah, who had marital and financial problems, killed his estranged wife, their two teenage children, his wife's sister, his brother-in-law and his niece before shooting himself at an apartment where his wife and children had been staying. The victims ranged in age from 14 to 59 years old.

Investigators had hoped information on Yazdanpanah's computer, at his home in Colleyville, most recently valued at $336,200, would yield some clues to a possible motive for the shootings. But Grapevine Police Department Sergeant Robert Eberling told KRLD there is no way the man could have entered revealing information.

"Electricity had been turned off for quite some time at that house," explained Eberling. "We don't believe that he was using that computer anytime before the incident."

Authorities were also looking into whether Yazdanpanah snapped because he was on the verge of becoming homeless.

"The bank was in the process, in the early stages of the foreclosure," said Eberling. "It doesn't look like they're in the position, the bank was in the position to have him removed from the home anytime soon. It looks like the first action that they're gonna be able to make on it [foreclosure] would be sometime in early March of this year."

Police say there are still questions to be answered in the case and their investigation isn't over.

"We're still looking into a few other things," Eberling said firmly. "So, we still have some research to do and I know we're looking into more of the financial aspects and that's going to take a little bit of time."
