NORTH RICHLAND HILLS (CBS 11 NEWS) – Members of Fort Worth Boy Scout Troop #179 are rattled and frustrated after someone or some people stole their trailer filled with camping gear.
What makes it worse they say is that the equipment was stolen from the parking lot of the Legacy Church. The trailer was chained to a light post.
Scout Master Charles Barkley Jr. said the discovery was made Sunday after church service. He says he looked over to where the trailer normally sits and it was gone. Barkley said he was feeling "disappointed, obviously…frustration little bit."
Now, Troop 179 is left trying to figure out how they will manage to go on their January 17 camping trip. They're hoping to gather what little gear they have left and still make the trip possible.
The trailer held tents, cooking supplies, and other items of value to the Boy Scouts. The trailer and its contents are valued at several thousand dollars.
Scout Steven Graham said, "It's kind of important. They hold some sentimental value. We have had the same gear for a really long time in this troop, ever since I joined."
If you have seen the trailer pictured above or know anything about the theft contact the North Richland Hills Police Department at 817-427-7000.
