NORTH RICHLAND HILLS (CBS 11) — An 11-year-old North Texas girl receives a show of support as she takes on the fight of her life.

Chemotherapy and radiation have kept Trinity Moran home from her fifth grade school year. This past summer she was diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma, an aggressive cancer that impacts only about 350 children in the United States a year.

On Friday night, during a basketball game, the Birdville High School varsity cheerleaders rooted her on.

"It makes me feel like a lot of people care about me and they want to support me. I feel really loved," she said.

Cheerleaders dressed in her favorite color — teal — sold bracelets with the words "Trinity Strong." Only 11 years old, the fifth grader's strength has been tested. Like many children her age, she has dealt with bullying and teasing.

"[I felt] afraid. It hurt me really bad, deep inside," she said.

But unlike most children, Trinity has had to deal with serious health concerns as well.

"I'm thinking about myself. I'm scared of more tumors growing," she said.

Trinity had finished chemotherapy just before Christmas. Weeks ago, her family learned she had four new tumors. The largest one is about 7 centimeters in size.

"I wanted to fall apart, but you can't. You are their strength," her mother, Kimberly Rasmus, said.

This latest battle is a difficult one for any mother to have to fight along with her child.

"She is amazing. I have never seen so much strength from a child. She is my hero," Rasmus said.

Trinity Faith Moran is leaning on her faith right now; ready to keep fighting.

"I know I can keep doing it. I'll be strong each time. Even if it's a lifelong thing, I can do it."

All funds raised from the sales of the bracelets will go towards helping the family with medical expenses. The family has also set up a GoFundMe page.
