School Groups To Help LD Bell Coach Fight Blood Disorder
FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) – When LD Bell baseball coach Paul Gibson was diagnosed with a rare blood disorder, the high school swung into action.
Gibson needs to make a trip to the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota for treatment. To help offset the costs, volunteers are taking donations at the school and have started an online movement to help offset the costs for the well-liked coach.
Kendra Good, a fundraiser organizer, held a donation drive at the high school Thursday morning. She says she's trying to set it up at a game this season. In her words, she's "trying to hit a Grand Slam of support for Coach Gibson!"
The coach said he feels blessed seeing the outpouring of support. And it's not just from current players, either.
"I've literally received two or three times a day, just different calls from ex-players, longtime friends and just been uplifted through those conversations," Gibson said.
He heads to Minnesota in July. Interested in donating? Head here. Also, visit this site to learn more about the LD Bell Blue Raiders and keep up with Gibson's status as he undergoes treatment.
