DENTON (CBSDFW.COM) — Residents in Denton are cleaning up after strong winds whipped through the town on Sunday.
Several downed trees lay scattered through the community and a few businesses were left patching up damaged roofs.
One of the most dramatic scenes played out at the Studio 6 motel near I-35E and Fort Worth Road. The gusts were so strong that it ripped a massive motel sign in half were it was left dangling.

"Heavy wind, it was little scary. We were shaking a little bit. Then we heard a big boom. We knew something hit us," said Nick Patel, the Studio 6 motel manager.
Across the street from the motel, similar scenes played out in Denton. At the Grove Apartments, some residents managed to capture the strong storm on their cell phones.
"We were outside and we saw a lot of rain and wind pick up. We went inside and started recording stuff started flying towards us," said Michael Oygoke, a Denton resident.
Residents said they will begin the process of cleaning up what is left and contacting insurance companies for estimates on Monday.
