Saginaw Family Files Complaint Against Police Department

SAGINAW (CBS 11 NEWS) - A Saginaw family filed an official complaint with the Saginaw Police Department Wednesday after they say an officer pulled a gun on them while conducting vehicle checks as part of the Alanna Gallagher murder investigation.
Last Monday, officers stopped vehicles near where children found Gallagher's body as well as near the girl's home.
At the time, Officer Damon Ing with the Saginaw Police Department said officers stopped anyone passing through to ask them questions and gather information.
Kelton Parker and his 17-year-old niece, April Guy, live one street over from the Gallagher's home and so just as they pulled out of their driveway last Monday an officer pulled them over.
Parker, however; said the officer did not come up to his window to ask questions rather he said the Saginaw police officer gave them orders.
"It was like, 'Driver, put your hands out the window,'" recalled Parker. "That's when I seen her standing there with a gun – half way up like pointed at the door."
Parker and his niece said at that point they were more than just confused.
"I was scared," said Guy. "I was alright until I heard she pulled a gun."
Parker said the whole incident was also embarrassing.
"You got people walking by taking pictures," he said. "They straight up disgraced us."
According to Parker and Guy, when a second officer arrived along with an FBI agent, they were allowed to put their hands down.
Parker told CBS 11 News the FBI agent told him a Chrysler Pacifica mini-van, which looked like the one he was driving at the time, was seen on home security video driving on Alanna Gallagher's street.
Saginaw police, however; told CBS 11 News investigators are not looking for a vehicle by that description.
Parker said he tried asking a supervising officer at the scene why a gun was pulled on them but Parker said the police captain he spoke with told him he was too busy.
On Wednesday Parker filed an official complaint with the Saginaw Police Department.
"I don't have a problem with them doing their job or asking any question about where I was," said Parker. "But you can approach me without drawing your gun on me."
CBS 11 News asked the Saginaw Police Department about the complaint. A police spokesperson said per department policy he cannot comment on internal affairs investigations.
