THE COLONY (CBSDFW.COM) – A new social media trend has caught the attention of police officers in North Texas and now it has them dancing.

It's called "The Running Man Challenge."

The popular home videos feature groups of people shuffling and dancing to the 1996 hit song "My Boo" by the Ghost Town DJ's.

It started with a group of student athletes at the University of Maryland and many have now been inspired to make their own video.

Frisco Police were the first in North Texas to make such a video and then they challenged The Colony Police.

The Colony Police then made a video, too.

"We want to show people hey we are human we like to have a good time when we have the opportunity to," said Colonty Police Sgt. Jay Goodson.

The Colony Police have now challenged both Lewisville Police and Plano Police to do the same.

Lewisville and Plano cops say they are working on their response to the challenge.
