IRVING (CBSDFW.COM) - Irving Police are after a man they say impersonated an officer.
Shortly before noon on Tuesday, a woman in the 4000 block of North Beltline Road called police saying she'd just been pulled over and approached by a man who appeared to be a Rowlett police officer. The man immediately told the victim to exit the car because she had warrants for her arrest.
The victim did not feel comfortable with the situation and quickly called Irving Police dispatch. When she told the man she had called for an Irving officer to respond, he returned to his car and drove away.
The suspect is described as a white man, 25-30 years old, short brown hair, brown eyes and clean shaven with a tattoo on his right index finger bearing the word "SAVIOR" beginning at the knuckle.
He also wore a wedding ring described as a series of connected crosses on his left ring finger.
The suspect appeared to be wearing a full police style uniform with patches bearing the wording "Rowlett."
The vehicle is described as a black Dodge Charger with white doors also bearing the wording "Rowlett" in deceptively similar fashion to a legitimate Rowlett Police Department vehicle. The car had an overhead emergency light bar.
Detectives are working with the Rowlett Police Department and have confirmed the suspect is not a departmental employee. They have accounted for all of their police vehicles. Based on the circumstances of the traffic stop and the initial investigation, detectives believe the suspect is impersonating a Rowlett police officer.
Anyone who may have seen this incident or has information about this suspect is asked to call the Irving Police Department at (972) 273-1010 and reference case number 15-13062.
