'Rowdy Row' Petition Seeks To Change Culture At Cowboys Home Games
ARLINGTON (105.3 THE FAN) -- Gabriel Carranza became a diehard Cowboys fan at the age of 3.
So the notion that AT&T Stadium -- the home of the Dallas Cowboys -- has become a destination for out of town fans, lukewarm fans, and executives -- he takes it personally.
Carranza has started a movement called "Rowdy Row" to petition the team and Jerry Jones to create an affordable section for diehard fans.
"The section would be affordable to diehard fans to try to put our diehard fans back in the stadium," said Carranza with Shan & RJ on 105.3 The Fan. "The average diehard fan probably isn't making over $30,000 or $35,000 per year. They can't afford to be in the stadium."
Carranza says he's already gathered over 3,000 signatures.
He began the movement after watching the Cowboys season opener, in which 49ers fans showed up in large numbers, filling the stadium with San Francisco red.
"It pissed me off really," said Carranza. "At some point, you have to look at reality. You can't tell me we weren't outnumbered at that stadium. It should never be like that."

Aside from the numbers, Carranza also believes the culture and attitude at games is all wrong. He cited a story from a friend who attended the Cowboys opener and was essentially asked to stop cheering.
"He told me they were at the San Francisco game, and the ushers told him to sit down. He was up throwing his towel around, cheering for the Cowboys, but a San Francisco couple couldn't see the game."
The plan is to convince ownership to open a section of the stadium, to be called "Rowdy Row", at a reduced price. Carranza is requesting the section be in the lower upper deck.
And while one section in a stadium that seats over 100,000 fans won't change everything, Carranza simply hopes it promotes change.
"Right now we're just trying to lay the foundation. I want the stadium to be comparable to the 12th Man in Seattle. I know one section is not going to do that, but I hope this is the foundation to turn us in the right direction, to change the culture of the stadium, the culture of the fan base."
