DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - A Dallas police rookie is under investigation after a wild night at a strip club.

The department says the officer called in sick for his shift then went to the Club V Live strip club off 35E in Dallas with a friend.

The men allegedly had an argument with someone inside the nightclub. It continued at a gas station across the street, where the other man reportedly pulled a gun, shooting the officer in the ankle and his friend in the leg.

Instead of driving to the nearest hospital, though, sources tell CBS11 News the officer drove all the way to Irving to be treated and even gave what seems to be a fake name in an effort not to get caught.

The officer, who is still in training, is on leave while the department investigates.

The department says he was assigned to the Northwest substation but it is not identifying the officer.
