Ronda Rousey Is A Game Changer For UFC
DALLAS (105.3 THE FAN) - Ronda Rousey (6-0 MMA) debuts in the UFC on Saturday night and defends her UFC title against challenger Liz Carmouche (8-2 MMA).
This will be the first ever women's fight in UFC history. This fight is huge for MMA and a star like Rousey could really help push the UFC into the mainstream. " The most media attention that we have ever had. Without a doubt" UFC President Dana White said during the pre-fight press conference.
Ronda Rousey is a bigger star than Brock Lesnar. That is what Dana White says.
When asked about the comparison between the polpularity of the former Heavyweight champion Lesnar and Rousey, White was very clear at the pre-fight press conference. "She blows him out of the water. No fighter has ever fought in the UFC and had more attention that she has. That's a fact!"
Statements like that really put Ronda Rousey's popularity in perspective. This is an organization that has Anderson Silva, George St-Pierre and Jon Jones. Brock Lesnar was a massive star for the UFC and did huge PPV numbers.
Ronda Rousey is undefeated and has finished all six of her opponents by first round arm bar. That is impressive if your name is Royce Gracie. She is a very aggressive fighter that has been able to walk through every one of her previous opponents with relative ease. She is the Mike Tyson of women's MMA but instead of knocking people out she chooses to break their arm...not sure which one is more ruthless.
I don't think a prediction is necessary here. Rousey will win by first round arm bar...that is a fact, not a prediction. Carmouche is a good fighter and I don't mean to disrespect her ability but Rousey just has that killer feel to her and I don't see her losing a fight for quite some time.
