Romney Calls His Campaign Spending "Wiser"

HOUSTON (AP) - Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney says his campaign is "a little wiser" in spending its money than President Barack Obama's team.

Speaking at a high-dollar fundraiser, Romney told donors he plans to spend his campaign's money "to win."

Romney didn't say specifically why he thought his campaign was spending money more wisely than the president. His remarks came a day after the Obama campaign released new finance documents showing the Democratic team spent more in July than they brought in.

Romney's campaign and Republicans have outraised Obama and Democrats for the past three months.

Romney's fundraiser in Houston on Tuesday was expected to bring in more than $6 million. It's one of several fundraising events the campaign is holding in Republican-leaning states this week.
