Rolando McClain Suspended Indefinitely For Violating NFL's Substance Abuse Policy

DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - Cowboys linebacker Rolando McClain has been suspended indefinitely for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy, the team announced Friday.

McClain was previously suspended for ten games for violating the same policy back in June.  At the time, a Cowboys source told 105.3 The Fan's Mike Fisher, "Gotta cut him. The only guy arguing against it would be Jerry Jones." Jones, however, refused to shut the door on the idea of McClain returning over two weeks ago, acknowledging that McClain was eligible to return to the NFL from his 10-game suspension the next week.

"He's in shape," Jones said on November 17. "Rolando is really somebody who helped us when he was here, but I really don't want to get into when or if he might be joining us."

We've had an inkling all along that McClain really didn't have interest in playing, and if he did, he sure wasn't showing it by his actions. But, Jones was still holding out hope that he'd return.

"Yes, he does want to play, but there is more detail that I'm not going to get into right now,'' added Jones two weeks ago.

Maybe the Cowboys can finally move on from the embattled linebacker once and for all.
