Roger Chapman's Dream Season Brings Him To PGA
KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. (AP) - When Roger Chapman showed up at Harbor Shores in Michigan for the Senior PGA Championship in May, he figured a top-20 finish would be a nice accomplishment.
Then he began a stretch that should give hope to every journeyman.
Chapman won the Senior PGA and added another title at the U.S. Senior Open in July. Suddenly, his nondescript career turned into one of golf's most remarkable stories of 2012.
Chapman's reward for winning the Senior PGA is a spot in this week's PGA Championship at Kiawah Island. Fittingly, the Englishman's journey to South Carolina wasn't easy. Chapman said he made it from London to Washington fine, but was stuck at a D.C.-area airport for about 14 hours.
