Robert Griffin III Gets Popular Video Game Cover
DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Former Baylor QB Robert Griffin III has earned another football honor, one that will make him the envy of sports gamers everywhere.
The popular video game maker Electronic Arts Inc announced on Monday that RG3 will be featured on the cover of EA Sports NCAA Football 13. The much anticipated game is scheduled to be released on Tuesday July 10, 2012.
Griffin is the first student-athlete from Baylor University to win the Heisman Trophy, Robert Griffin III – popularly known as "RG3"— also won the Davey O'Brien Award and was named the Associated Press College Football Player of the Year in 2011.
In 2008, RG3 was named the Big 12 Conference Offensive Freshman of the Year by the league's coaches, setting the school's rushing yards record for a freshman and for a quarterback with 843 yards for the season.
Fans can also determine which one of eight past Heisman Trophy winners will accompany Griffin on the cover of NCAA Football 13 - they include former USC running back Marcus Allen, former Boston College quarterback Doug Flutie, former The Ohio State University running back Eddie George, former Michigan wide receiver Desmond Howard, former Oklahoma State University running back Barry Sanders, former Georgia running back Herschel Walker, former Florida State University quarterback Charlie Ward and former University of Houston quarterback Andre Ware.
Fan voting for the spot behind RG3 on the cover will begin March 12th on the NCAA Football Facebook page.
The NCAA Football video game series, developed for both Xbox 360 and PS3 platforms, sells over 700,000 copies annually.
