DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Ellen Kreager of Dallas is recounting a horror story that she said has kept her from sleeping for three days.

"I was almost killed and that's very scary."

When Kreager arrived at her Oak Cliff house around 1:45 Monday afternoon, Kreager said, "I took a step in and I briefly glanced somebody behind the door and he put a gun to my head and said don't move."

The suspect, Andres Vera, 21, forced her into a back room, she said to see if she had a rope and then he blind-folded her.

"He took this chair and I was sitting here and he tied me to these rails. By then I was scared to death. My hands were shaking so bad."

But moments later, she realized Vera wouldn't hurt her. "He apologized quite a few times also. I'm so sorry I have to be doing this."

Kreager believes she was targeted because Vera knows someone she does. She said the suspect wanted to steal her identity.

He took her drivers license, her passport, insurance papers, electronics and phones.

She said Vera then stole her car, and unsuccessfully tried to set it on fire.

Kreager untied herself quickly and called for help.

Police told her he also spent $4,000 on her credit cards. "Oh, I saw the goods. There were dolls and toys, a big screen tv. Yeah, they went Christmas shopping."

Kreager credits detectives for tracking the credit card spending and arresting Vera Tuesday afternoon, just 24 hours later. "I'm very angry. It's not even the finances. It's the trauma. It's the terror. It's sleeping at night. It took me three days before I could sleep."

Now, she said she'll sleep better at night because Vera is in jail on $200,000 bail. Plus, she's installing a burglar alarm.
