Road Changes For Arlington Sports Traffic
ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) - Some temporary changes are coming to the HOV lanes along Interstate-30 in Arlington to help visitors in town for the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament and the Texas Rangers exhibition game against Mexico City.
The eastbound HOV lanes will remain open later than usual, staying accessible from 9:00 p.m. Thursday night until noon on Friday. The westbound HOV lanes will be open during normal hours (1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.). The special exit in Arlington -- the T ramp at Legends Way -- will not be open late, but you can use it from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. to get to the stadiums.
The eastbound HOV lanes will be open late again on Friday night, from 10:00 p.m. until midnight, including the T ramp.
The Rangers play Thursday night and basketball begins Friday night at Cowboys Stadium, but the teams are practicing on Thursday. Six Flags Over Texas is open Friday until 10:00 p.m. as well.
The HOV lanes are typically closed at night. These changes will hopefully ease some of the traffic associated with sporting events happening at both Rangers Ballpark and next-door Cowboys Stadium, dispensing the crowds quickly and not leaving visitors with the taste of traffic jams spoiling the festive mood.
