FARMERSVILLE (CBSDFW.COM) - While investigating leads in the case of missing woman Jessie Bardwell, Richardson police confirm they've found a body in a field near Farmersville.

Bardwell's boyfriend Jason Lowe is already in custody charged with her murder. Blood and and a bullet hole were found in Lowe's Audi.

Police say cell phone data and good detective work helped lead them to the body. According to officials, the body was discovered in a remote wooded area off Highway 78 and appeared to have been in the area for days.

Investigators say they found tire tracks in the same area, but wouldn't get specific about any other evidence at the scene.

Investigators say they made it a point to make sure Jessie Bardwell's family was the first to know about the discovery. Richardson Police Department Sergeant Kevin Perlich said, "We all realize what type of a toll that would take on us if it was our loved one that was out there. So, it's really important for us, when we have cases like this, to try and bring quick closure to them."

Bardwell, 27, was reported missing last Monday by her parents in Mississippi, who grew suspicious after she failed to call on Mother's Day.

The medical examiner removed the body from the scene and is working to confirm the identification. In the meantime, a GoFundMe page has been set up to help Bardwell's family with traveling expenses and a memorial service.
