DALLAS (THE FAN) - Robert Griffin III has been unseated as the starting quarterback of the Washington Redskins. Redskins head coach Jay Gruden made the announcement in a press conference today. "Kirk Cousins will be the starter for 2015, moving forward. It's Kirk's team."
Gruden cited Cousins play as the reason for the decision, and not Griffin's injury history.
Griffin suffered a concussion in the teams' second preseason game and was sidelined for their third preseason game this past weekend.
Gruden says that the team plans on having Griffin on the 53-man roster.
Griffin hasn't been anywhere near the player he was when the Redskins drafted him second overall in 2012 when he was was named the offensive rookie of the year, and led the Redskins to the NFC East title. Griffin missed 7 games last season due to various injuries.
