$15K Reward In Duncanville Grandmother Murder Case

DUNCANVILLE (CBSDFW.COM) - A total of $15,000 in rewards are being offered for information in the fatal shooting of a North Texas great-grandmother Wednesday morning.

Duncanville resident Barbara Vincent Strain was shot and killed after answering the front door of the home she'd lived in for 50 years.

Duncanville police have little information in the case but have given a possible description of the suspect involved. The individual is believed to be a white or Hispanic male, standing approximately 5'5", with an average build. The man was last seen running south from the scene, in the 1300 block of Highland Drive, wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans.

Police say several shots were fired at Strain as she tried to close the door of her home, with a number of bullets actually going through the door. According to police, there were two adults and three children inside the home when the shooting occurred.

Members of the Duncanville Fire Department transported Strain to Methodist Hospital where the 74-year-old woman was pronounced dead.

Oak Farms Dairy is offering the $10,000 reward. North Texas Crime Stoppers is also offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information in the case.

Police are asking that anyone with information about the shooting or the suspect call Duncanville police at (972) 780-5037, Extension 14 or contact Crime Stoppers at (877) 373-8477.
