Reward Offered For Person Who Murdered Garland Store Clerk
GARLAND (CBSDFW.COM) - As Garland police try to find the person they believe is responsible for shooting and killing a convenience store clerk, a $10,000 reward is being offered for information.
Clerk Yosef Tulu was shot and killed around 3:30 a.m. at the 7-Eleven store on Firewheel Parkway and Pleasant Valley Road. At some point the shooter also robbed the store.
A deliveryman discovered the body of the 31-year-old store clerk behind the counter. Tulu, an Ethiopian immigrant, was engaged to be married and was saving for his wedding.
Officer Joe Harn, with the Garland Police Department, said the store is located in a well-populated area, but the early morning hour of the crime is a factor. "It's a fairly busy intersection… however, it is the middle of the night, so traffic is light."
Surveillance video caught the suspect walking into the store with what appears to be a rifle. The killer walks in with their face covered and moments later walks out with a bag, likely stuffed with money.

Abeba Woldemeskel worked with Tulu. "We never see bad customers. Always we have nice customers," she said. "Everybody's shocked, how it happened like this… to him, especially to him."
Another co-worker, Marcelo Greenhaw, said Tulu was a good person who wouldn't have fought with the robber. "He's a very calm guy. He would never raise his voice to anybody. He was not confrontational. [He was a] very good worker, [a] very good guy. So it's very shocking. They didn't have to hurt him."
Dallas-based 7-Eleven issued a statement that said, in part, "7-Eleven and its franchisee are doing everything we can to work closely with police during the investigation, and we hope for a quick apprehension of the suspect(s) involved."
Detectives spent all day at the store looking for clues as to who committed the crime, but as of Tuesday night still had few answers. Police are asking that anyone with information contacted Garland Crime Stoppers at 972-272-8477 or by logging onto the Garland Crime Stoppers website and leaving a tip.
Oak Farm Dairy is offering a $10,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest and indictment of the person/persons responsible. The reward offer will remain in effect for six months.
