Reser's Fine Foods, Inc. Recalls Refrigerated Salad

DALLAS (CBSDFW) - According to the FDA, Reser's Fine Foods, Inc. is recalling nineteen refrigerated salad items after being notified by their ingredient suppliers that Listeria monocytogenes may be present in a lot of onions that were used in the salads.
The bacteria can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people. The bacteria is also troublesome for people with weakened immune systems.
The Oregon based company says that the salads were distributed to retailers and distribution centers in the following states: AL, AR, AZ, CA, CO, HI, ID, IL, IN, KS, KY, MI, MN, MO, MT, NC, NE, NM, NV, OH, OK, OR, PA, SD, TN, TX, UT, WA, WY, and British Columbia.
The retail product is sold in plastic containers and is marked with a Use By Date and the #10 at the end of the line of printing.
The company says no other items have been manufactured using this lot of onions and there have been no illnesses reported to date.
Consumers are urged not to consume these products, and anyone who purchased them may take them back to the store for a refund or discard them.
