SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. (AP/CBSNEWS) - The San Bernardino police chief says two adults and one student are dead after an apparent murder-suicide Monday morning at an elementary school. Another student is recovering at the hospital.
A San Bernardino police official says children at the North Park School were not the targets.
Police Capt. Ron Maass says, "The children we do not believe were targeted. The suspect had come to the classroom to visit. The adult female was in the classroom."
The other students in the school were evacuated and taken to a nearby school.
Police have not identified the shooter who used a handgun or the teacher who was killed.
Police reports say the gunman shot himself a few blocks away from campus. The motive for the incident remains under investigation.
