Report: Rangers Sign OF Choo To 7-Year Deal

ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) -- The Texas Rangers have reached a 7-year contract agreement with free agent outfielder Shin-Soo Choo, CBSSports.com is reporting.

Jon Heyman reports that the deal is worth $130 million.

Choo played in 154 games with Cincinnati in 2013, batting .285 with a .423 OBP — the second highest in the National League. The 31-year-old added 21 homeruns and 54 RBIs in his first season with the Reds.

Choo spent the six previous seasons with Cleveland, but was traded prior to the 2013 season in a three-team deal including Arizona.

Heyman also says that Texas is now considered a long-shot to sign Japanese pitcher Masahiro Tanaka, who has not yet been posted by his club.

Nelson Cruz is also likely out of the equation for Texas.

With the addition of Choo, who will likely lead-off for Texas, the Rangers lineup will be much improved on 2013.

*Projected lineup: Choo, Andrus, Fielder, Beltre, Rios, Moreland, Soto, Profar, Martin
