DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - Eight prospects in the Rangers organization are under investigation after a video showed them sexually assaulting an underage teammate, according to Yahoo's Jeff Passan.
Passan says the players were questioned in November after the Rangers informed Dominican police of the alleged assault at their complex in Boca Chica, D.R.
Prosecutors in the Dominican Republic have yet to press charges for the alleged assault, however, they intend to charge at least four players who held down the unknown teammate and masturbated him, sources told Yahoo Sports.
The hazing incident particularly targets players new to the team's Dominican complex.
Among those expected to be charged is the brother of Rangers second baseman Rougned Odor, who also goes by Rougned, and catching prospect Yohel Pozo.
According to Passan, the players are unable to leave the country during the investigation.
In a statement to Yahoo Sports, the Rangers said: "The Texas Rangers became aware of an incident at our Academy in the Dominican Republic and we acted promptly to open an investigation. We have reported the incident and are cooperating fully with Major League Baseball and the authorities in the Dominican Republic. With this being an ongoing investigation, we will have no further comment at this time."
