DeMarco Leaves Cowboys For $42-Million Deal With Eagles

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) -- DeMarco Murray, the NFL's 2014 rushing champion, has agreed to a five-year, $42-million deal to leave Dallas via free agency to instead join the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday, sources tell 105.3 The Fan.
The decision is emotional and agonizing for many, but not for the parties involved. Sources close to Murray tell us his mind was made up just before midnight on Wednesday, when he realized the Cowboys desired to keep him at a rate of about $6 million a year, while the Eagles were willing to come closer to the $9-mil-a-year Jamaal Charles-level contract he's been asking for dating all the way back to negotiations inside of Valley Ranch in October.
Irvin: Cowboys Making 'Poor Decision'
"He's joining the Eagles,'' Murray family members said in the wee hours of Thursday as Murray jetted to Philadelphia with some of those family members.
Murray will replace 2013 rushing leader LeSean McCoy, who last week was traded to the Buffalo Bills.
The Cowboys will of course be awash in Adrian Peterson rumors -- justifiable, as he's the most gifted running back of his generation -- but will largely focus on what has always been Plan A: the NFL Draft.
