Jason Kidd Reportedly Signing With Knicks

DALLAS (CBSSPORTS.COM) - For the second time this week, a point guard has reportedly spurned Dallas for New York.

Unrestricted free agent point guard Jason Kidd will sign a "multi-year contract" with the New York Knicks. The New York Daily News has confirmed the agreement.

The deal would mark the end of a crazy week of free agency for Kidd, who was first linked to a package deal with All-Star guard Deron Williams to join the Brooklyn Nets and was then thought to be headed back to the Mavericks on a 3-year deal reportedly worth $9 million. Dallas was also reportedly one of two finalists for Williams before he opted to sign with Brooklyn.

NBA.com reports that New York's plan is to have Kidd mentor restricted free agent point guard Jeremy Lin, who has drawn interest from the Houston Rockets.

Kidd, 39, averaged 6.2 points, 5.5 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 1.7 steals in 28.7 minutes per game for the Dallas Mavericks last season.
